Sputnikfest Creative Writing Contest

Sharpen Your Pencils for the Sputnikfest Creative Writing Contest

The Rahr West Art Museum will hold a creative writing contest as part of its Sputnikfest celebration. Accomplished and aspiring writers of all ages are encouraged to embrace the Sputnik spirit, and share their literary art with the community. Anyone from anywhere may submit a previously unpublished story or poem as long as it includes something about the Sputnik. The entire focus could be on Sputnik's fall to earth in Manitowoc, or the Sputnik space program could be simply mentioned in passing. As long as something about Sputnik is in there somewhere, submissions are good to go! The sky's the limit!

Submissions due July 1, 2008

Rewards

At least one first place winner will be named in each category, and one grand prize winner will be selected from all entries received. Honorary mentions may be awarded at the judges' discretion. Grand prize and first place winners will be invited to participate in a public reading and reception during the Sputnikfest celebration on Saturday, Sept 6th from 10:00 am to 12:00 noon. In addition, the grand prize winner will have his or her work published on the Rahr West Art Museum Web site. Other prizes have yet to be determined and announced.
